Visit to Tigerland Canine Academy
Volume 2, Issue 2
15, February 2008
By Sue Yeap
On 26 January,
2008, 9 members took a drive to Padang Besar to visit Michael Lee at the
Tigerland Canine Academy.
It was a nice leisure drive and we
took the opportunity to have a relaxing time. We did not take any of our
dogs.
Michael Lee breeds and trains only quality
dogs, mainly of the working breeds, for Schutzhund, Guard and
Protection, Substance Detection and Agility Sport. His dog Jacky made a
debut agility trial at the recent PAAPP trials on 5 January, 2008.
Although Jacky did not get a clean run yet, I am very sure he will move
very fast to his title. As a dog not familiar with all the equipment,
he has great potential.
Michael shows us what his dog can do in
terms of protection work. Development of the drive and focus in the dog
is essential to train the dogs to perform for Schutzhund or
Agility or Obedience. "All this is a hobby to me" says Michael. Do visit
his website to know more of him.

. When we were there, we met a couple from Kuala Lumpur who brought 3
of their Dobermanns for a week's training at Tigerland.
Jacky, a Jack Russell Terrier is from
Michael's own breeding. He has been taught to perform many things. I
believe this is possible when he has strong basic foundation- drive and
focus. Not forgetting constant daily work by the trainer. "At least 3
years to teach a dog to Jacky's standard", says Michael.
The attached video has some clips of what
we saw at Tigerland Canine Academy. We thank Michael and Henry for
spending time with us on that day.
