Although PAAPP was
formed in 2001, competitive agility for titles did not take place until
2007. We wish to hold more trials to give agility competitors an
opportunity to title their dogs in Malaysia. Alas, there are always
challenges such as venue and budget. Malaysia is still not as
dog-friendly as the western countries. The weather is also not so kind
to our dogs and competitors. We have about 3 hours in the early mornings
or 3 hours in the evenings to hold the agility competitions in outdoor
environment. At least 40% of the time we have to postpone our trials to
the following week due to the rain!
Indoor venue is
another option but difficult to find. Carpeting is required, and this
means cost. As a non-profit organization, PAAPP is never 'cash-rich'. We
depend on sponsors.
On the topic of
sponsors, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Eukanuba for
sponsoring 90% most of our dog trials in 2007 in terms of dog food and
dog accessories.
We also have
well-wishers who contributed money when we passed the hat around. Most
of these well-wishes came forward to be life members. The fees collected
was able to cover up most of the expenses for the competitions.
The committee members
(Chok Kean Siang, Lim Ban Ho, Pauline Lee, Ooi Ban Hin, Donna Chee,
Adreinne Lim, Alexis Yeap) contributed the most in terms of their
valuable time and also money. Without their dedication and support to
the vision of PAAPP, this organization will not be able to survive.
What is planned for
2008? Titling as many dogs as possible is the aim, so that by 2009, we
can have the OPEN class. The OPEN class is only for M.A.CH titled
dogs. So far, we have one dog titled- Rightroyale's Kofi, M.A.CH. There
are 2 dogs (Archer and Northshine Sandy) which needs 5 more
points to be get their titles. Another 6 dogs need 10 more points.
My vision is to have
ADAA (Agility Dog Association of Australia) judges come over in 2009 to
judge the OPEN class. We will make it happen.
