Volume 4, Issue 1
By Sue Yeap
This year is an exciting
year for PAAPP.
-
2010 marks the 10th
year anniversary for PAAPP.
-
2010 will see the 1st
International Agility Championships in Malaysia. This will be the
single big annual event by PAAPP where there will be 3 overseas
judges judging 9 events for all dogs to compete. Exciting? Watch out
for more news next month, as the new committee takes the challenge
to raise funds for the event.
-
2010 marks the 1st
year UD (Utility Dog) class will be offered to Obedience Trialers-
the 1st in Malaysia. The UD Rules will be released by early February
2010.
-
2010 will be the year
for awarding the first PAAPP Challenge Trophies in Agility and
Obedience.
Challenge Trophies
Silver, Gold and Platinum
Medals
-
To date, there are 13
Silver Medalists and 2 Gold Medalists.
-
We hope to award more
Gold Medalist by end of 2010.
-
Dogs may not make it
for the Platinum Award this year but hopefully by 2012 we have a few
Platinum Award winners.
(Eligibility
Rules are here)
Agility Training
-
It is time that we
upgrade our training methods for agility. The agility sport has
evolved for almost 20 years in the world. How is it that overseas
competitors can get their dogs to move so fast yet accurately around
the course? I believe the answer is Solid Foundation Training and
Good Handling Skills.
-
This year August, we
have planned for a 4-days training program in Penang. Watch out for
more details next month.
Judges, Stewards and
Timers:
-
Without officials such
as Judges and Stewards and Timers, no Agility competition can be
run. Here I would like to thank the following persons who have
volunteered their time and effort to make every Agility and
Obedience Trial a success. They work selflessly and want to be
involved in making the agility sport a success in Malaysia.
-
They are: Adreinne
Lim, Peter Moey, Pauline Lee, Ooi Ban Hin, KK CHuah, Cindy Tan,
Lilian Phung, Clement Teh, Sharon Chin and Donna Chee.
-
A very encouraging
note is that many new members have stepped forward to lend a hand:
Christine, CC, Dawn, Edwin, May to name a few.
