October 14, 2007 Agility Trial
Volume 1, Issue 6
15 October, 2007
By Sue Yeap
The October trials is
the 6th Agility trial organized by PAAPP. As many of you may not know,
PAAPP was founded in 2001 and we have introduced the agility sport to
Malaysia by having dog agility demonstrations to the public. However,
true competitive agility for titles only started in 2007. Currently
Persatuan Agiliti Anjing Pulau Pinang is the only organization in
Malaysia giving out the Dog Agility titles such as GD (Gamblers Dog),
GDX (Gamblers Dog Excellent), M.A.CH (Malaysian Agility Champion),
M.A.GR CH (Malaysian Agility Grand Champion). Currently no Agility
Champions yet in Malaysia- we are getting close to title at least 3-4
dogs to M.A.CH. by January 2008. More details on how to get a dog titled
can be read here.
It is no easy feat to
train a dog to do agility for titles. Much dedication, patience and
passion is required. In the end, the handler gets rewarded by the
feeling of great accomplishment and achievement.
There are new faces in
the October trials and I am certainly glad that there are more
volunteers who have come forward to help run a trial. Everyone enjoyed
ourselves in spite of the weather. The newcomers did very well and we
have 2 dogs getting the Clean Run. They are Rocky (Mini Schnauzer)
handled by Sharon Chin and Chihiro (Akita) handled by Mitsuru
Matsukihira. BH Rott Reggie (Rottweiler), handled by BH Ooi surprised
all of us by performing a Clean Run (Basic Jumpers) @ 23 seconds with
lightning speed!
The grounds was
terrific, thanks to the management of Sekolah Rendah Sri Pinang. We also
kept our side of the bargain and we kept the grounds clean. All the dogs
were well-behaved.
The PAAPP committee
wishes to express our sincere thanks to Eukanuba for sponsoring the dog
food. Special mention to Mr. KK Chua who helped to take some wonderful
pictures.
I will be posting some
videos later in the month.
Good luck for the 7th
agility trial on 23rd December, 2007. Please take note that the new
revision F Agility rules will be used effective 1st November, 2007.
